We all know just how stressful cooking can be. It’s great to have family parties and cook for special occasions, but they bring a whole new set of problems from day to day family cooking.
In fact, when you’re cooking for a larger number of people, we think of it as catering rather than cooking!
Storing, chilling, preparing, cooking and keeping food hot all become much bigger issues.
- Ever kept the meat in the garage at Christmas because the fridge is full and ‘it’s cold outside’?!
- Ever been not really sure at your summer BBQ that the charcoal chicken joints are done in the middle?
- Ever juggled two casseroles, a meat joint, hot tart, roasties and veg, hoping that they are all still piping hot?
- Ever served sausages on a wing and prayer that they are actually fully cooked?
The Heat2EatFood Safety System takes the prayer out of the preparation and serving of food for a family party. You’ll always know that the chicken was properly cooked and the food properly chilled before cooking.
Heat2Eat’s mantra is that the correct storing, preparing and cooking of food is essential to serve great tasting food & prevent food poisoning.
The Heat2Eat Food Safety System guides you through each stage, from beginning to end, from 'CHILLING AND CHOPPING TO HEATING AND EATING'
Gippy Tummy
In the UK last year more than 5 million cases of food poisoning were reported at an estimated cost of £350 million to the economy. It is unkown how many cases went unreported.
- Ever had a ‘gippy tummy’ after lunch at Great Aunt Matilda’s? Did you tell her? Did she tell you!
- Ever had ‘the runs’ after a night out at a friend’s house and put it down to bad red wine?
- Ever had a day or two off because of an upset tummy after a meal you’ve cooked?
- Did you visit the doctor? No, probably not.
Millions more cases of food poisoning, mild and not so mild, go unreported.
WHAT IS FOOD POISONING?
Food poisoning occurs when a person consumes food that has been contaminated with harmful bacteria or toxins resulting in an acute illness and may include one or more of the following symptoms:
-
Abdominal pain
-
Vomiting
-
Nausea and diarrhoea
There is a delay (incubation period) from the time the contaminated food is consumed until the first symptoms appear. This may be from as little as 30 minutes to several hours’ even days with an illness lasting from several days to 10 or more. In some cases food poisoning can cause severe illness or even death.
